Our tenth message in the Daniel Series, this message looks at chapter 11 and it is set in the midst of a battle. It's a whole list of stuff that actually happened but with a twist, Daniel wrote it 2-500 years before it happened. This passage shows us not just that the Bible is totally reliable but also it shows a lot about what happens when we give in to our human nature instead of making the choice to follow God. This is a tough message but one we all need to hear as we live through troubled times.

We're in our ninth message on the series from the book of Daniel on chapter 9 verse 20 through chapter 10. This passage goes through a whole bunch of prophecies some of which are kind of hard to understand, but in the midst of it there are three times where God refers to Daniel as being highly esteemed. What does it take to be highly esteemed and how can you be highly esteemed? The good news is if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you already are. Find out why.

God Keeps His Promises

In this eighth message in our series on the book of Daniel we look at a prayer Daniel prayed as the Israelites neared end of the exile to Babylon. But of course this just isn't an old story from an old book, it is a cautionary tale for us as well. What we can see from this passage is that God always keeps his promises, both the ones we want Him to keep and the ones we think we don't. This message could change the way you approach the promises of Good. To God be the glory.

I'm jumping back to the Daniel series by looking at Daniel 7. When I was preparing to preach this message, I really struggled, then one day I felt really led too re-explore Daniel 8, (I'd read it before but didn't spend a lot of time there because I thought that passage would be next week's message) when I followed that leading, the whole message came together. This message goes from Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon til the second coming of Jesus and beyond with lots of historical stuff that all goes to show one very important point, no matter what the question, no matter what the struggle, no matter what you're facing...God knows. I'm in the process of reading a great book right now called Thriving as an Artist in the Church by Rory Noland. The book discusses the many issues artists of all disciplines can face and how we should deal with them. Each chapter of the book starts with a scenario then has some questions to answer about it. The chapter then gives some really good biblical advice on dealing with the issue followed by some review questions. It's a great resource for any artistic person wanting to serve God with his or her gifting. As I was working through the questions from the chapter on dealing with failure and rejection, I found myself i some serious self-examination and thought my listeners might benefit from not only hearing my answers but answering the questions for themselves. Failure and rejection seems to be a fact of life for artists, something that most of us have dealt with or will deal with. In this issue we are going to look at a unique way the Lord gave me to present a message on Daniel 4, combining writing, Drama and Painting to bring home the point of the message. The message is entitled Slow Learners Anonymous. Rather than just posting the message, I am also giving insights into how it all came about and challenging my listeners to try this type of thing for themselves. Even the bulletin graphic pulled the point together as I converted a photo of myself into a picture of one of the great biblical "slow learners" Nebuchadnezzar, a guy who proves you can be a slow learner and rise to great heights. Also in this week's podcast, I am highlighting a great painter who is combining her fantastic abstract art with video that shows not just her art, but also her technique and most importantly her heart. I am in the process of creating this week's podcast and feel I need a permission before I post it from an author whose work inspired this weeks podcast so it may be a few days before it is uploaded. It's the third message in my series on the book of Daniel, based on the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. This message took a little bit of a different direction than I thought it might when I first started to study the passage (Daniel 3). In this we will look at worship, how we were created to worship and the importance of who we worship. It's an important message for artists, but then again it's an important message for everyone.

This week, I have combined the Running A.M.O.K. Podcast and the New Creation Fellowship Podcast. Why a combined podcast? Well this week the folks at New Creation participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. It’s a way to raise funds for Cancer Research with the hope of finding a cure for this dread disease. Most of the folks at New Creation have been touched by this dread disease either personally or through a loved one. I walked in memory of my Nana, Beatrice Steininger who list her battle about 14 years ago. She was one of the first people who really encouraged me in the arts and she was a great lady. In this issue we are going to look at alternative forms of worship, specifically painting as part of the worship service. Then we will look at a specific painting that the Lord gave me for addressing a very uncomfortable topic, called "It Is What It is." In the music department we are going to look at a mode of collaboration between musicians and visual artists that can really turn some heads and we’ll be looking at the latest release from one of the truly great modern worship bands, Remedy by the David Crowder Band. We’ll have a new writers prompt and in the drama department we’ll look at a skit I wrote about vision and evangelism called the Box that you can download free from the A.M.O.K. website. We’ll also get a glimpse into following Christ when the arts cross the line and our memory verse of the week is Ephesians 2:10.

This is the first of the arts ministry resources from the Running A.M.O.K. Podcast. What’s in this issue? Well first of all I want to give you a little background on this ministry called A.M.O.K. and why you should listen to this podcast. It is what it is... Have you said it? It's this way of saying you have to accept what you can't change. What's happened has happened and there's not a darn thing I can do about it. I was thinking that one night and I felt God in my Spirit saying something that changed my thinking. If there is something in your life that is out of control and you feel like you can't do anything about it, you need this message. If you know your life is not going in the right direction, you need this message. If you're confused and don't know what to do, you need this message. It is what it is but maybe it doesn't have to be that way.
